Shopping According to Politics

Making business decisions to make political points seems to be a flawed model, especially when those urging such action have a bark worse than their bite.

  • Chic-fil-A, obviously faced an official government boycott from Chicago and Boston.  All these mayors proved was that they were heavy-handed thugs, who inspired the opposite action just out of spite.  Even from those who normally agree with them.
  • Carbonite took the bait on the “Stop Rush” bandwagon and found the hook of their revenues plummeting.

Clearly, alienating half the country from a potential customer-base is choosing……poorly.
